The Exchange
A public artwork for the Royal Institution of Australia (RiAus)
The Exchange is an art installation commissioned by RiAus to celebrate its opening in the former Adelaide Stock Exchange. The artwork echoes a stock exchange ‘ticker tape’ as it runs ribbon-like around the building’s exterior. Scrolling LED text features inspirational science-related poetry and quotes, as a manifestation of RiAus’ mission to promote scientific thought and ideas.
Conceived by David Kerr and Karl Meyer, the ambitious 20-metre long structure was brought into reality by Exhibition Studios’ design and construction team. It was a feature piece of the RiAus public launch in October 2009 with text works by John Kinsella.
